Influencers Earn How Much On Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube?

Along with social media apps and websites rose influencers. These individuals have gathered a considerable number of followers on the platforms. They are leveraging their reach to make a living. They either advertise other's products or sell their own merchandise.

Influencer culture became such a trend that you would hear stories about them anywhere you go. That tickles people's minds. Why is being an influencer such a goal for some? How much do they earn from it?

Influencers Earn How Much On Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube?

The answer to that is, it depends. It depends on the type of content they publish, how known they are, in what way, or on what platform. For example, HopperHQ named football superstar Christiano Ronaldo as the richest Instagram user in 2021. He has almost 300 million followers and makes $1.6 M per sponsored post. Then. Jojo Siwa, the teen star at 104th place, makes $44,400 per Instagram post. Those are undeniably huge numbers. However, since they are celebrities known almost worldwide, that was to be expected.

The real question is, how much do common people-turned influencers make on these platforms?

How Influencers Earn Money

Before looking at how much they make, let us first see how they make them. As mentioned above, influencers rely on many ways to earn money. Here are some of the most known methods:

Sponsored Content

This is pretty straightforward. Influencers advertise a company or a product through posts or video content, just like in TV commercials. The rates depend on the influencer's engagement rate, platform, and other factors like usage rights.

Affiliate Links

Some influencers generate affiliate links, or discount codes provided by brands, to earn a percentage of sales.

Selling Original Products

Influencers already have a voice on the platform. Here, they are leveraging that to create consumer products to sell directly to their followers. Since they made the products, they would receive most of the money made from sales.

Reselling Clothing

Social media platforms, especially Instagram, are ideal spaces to sell clothing.

Promoting Songs

Record labels pay TikTokers to use their music in an attempt to make them go viral.

Livestreaming on Instagram

Instagram introduced new features to help its influencers. Influencers can now receive tips from the viewers of their live streams in the form of Badges.

YouTube Partner Program

This is very much the reason why people set up a YouTube channel. After meeting the requirements, they can monetize their content. Google places ads within their videos, and they would earn 55% of the revenue their channels earn from them.

TikTok Creator Fund

TikTok creators above 18 years old have a chance to earn money directly from TikTok. They only need to get 10,000 followers and at least 100,000 video views in the last 30 days to be eligible.

Influencer Categories – The Reason Why They All Buy Followers

A factor that determines how much an influencer earns is their reach. The amount of money influencers earn is directly proportional to their follower count. The more followers they have, the more money they make

  • Nano-influencers: has 1,000 – 10,000 followers
  • Micro-influencers: has 10,000 – 50,000 followers
  • Mid-tier influencers: has 50,000 – 500,000 followers
  • Macro-influencers: has 500,000 – 1,000,000 followers
  • Mega-influencers: has 1,000,000 or more followers

How Much They Make on Instagram

According to influencer marketing experts, Instagram is the best platform for influencers.

Nano-influencers like Laura DeMartino with 5,200 followers can make  $10 – $100 per post on Instagram. Meanwhile, lifestyle and fashion influencer Ashley Jones can make $100 – $500 per Instagram post. Mid-tier influencer Jehava Brown, on the other hand, can make as much as $5,000 per post. She also told Business Insider that she charges an average of $3,000 for an Instagram Story.

Macro to Mega influencers can earn $5,000 to more than $100,000 per post. And again, celebrity influencers are known to make as much as a million per Instagram post.

You would see later that a YouTube post can make more money than an Instagram post. However, making a YouTube video takes painstakingly long. For the same amount of time, influencers can make a lot of posts on Instagram. That is why Instagram takes the cake as the best platform for influencers.

How Much Money Influencers Get Paid on YouTube

YouTube is the second-best platform for social media influencers. Unlike on Instagram, influencers do not need to rely on sponsorships to earn money. They can monetize their content by applying to the YouTube Partner Program. Still, brand partnerships are welcome because they give them more money.

No influencers consistently make the same rate due to how the monetization system works. It depends heavily on how many times their videos are viewed, which is out of their control. But, they can decide how much they would charge sponsors for a shoutout or endorsement.

Nano-influencers like Jen Lauren, who has 1,900 subscribers, can charge $20 – $200 per video. On the other end of the spectrum, Mega-influencers like Tiffany Ma can consider $20,000 as the lowest acceptable payment per video.

Some YouTube influencers charge brands differently. They wait for the views to come and ask $50 -$100 per 1,000 views.

How About On TikTok?

TikTok has just started monetization. It is also fairly new to the influencer game. Therefore, there is no clear way to determine how much influencers earn on the platform. But, by looking at the influencers for each category, estimates can be made.

Influencer Marketing Hub's TikTok Money Calculator says nano-influencers can make $5 – $25 per post. Mid-tier influencers, on the other hand, can charge $125 – $1,250 per post. Of course, Mega-influencers can charge for more, with $2,500 considered as the lowest rate.

Furthermore, there are TikTok influencers that are not celebrities but still have more than 10 million followers. These famous individuals can make $10,000 or more per post.

By looking at these numbers, we can understand why many people want to be social media influencers. They make so much money.
