This new account type is the answer for influencers who want insights on their audience. It allows them to get more in-depth stats about their followers as well as the other vital analytics that they cannot access their Instagram business accounts.
Of course, since the Instagram business account is a brand new account type, the company packed it up with new features that makes everything better for influencers. So, if you are an influencer and you find he business account helpful, you might find the new account type so much better.

Using the Instagram business account, you can select a category for your account. These categories include public figures or entrepreneurs. Also, this account type allows influencers to display various contact information such as email addresses, phone numbers, and business addresses.
You get these same features with the Instagram creator account. However, the difference is that you will be able to further control these profiles as well as how they will be displayed on your account.
In addition, the choice of categories has increased significantly. Now, the niche industries include DJ, blogger, makeup artist, and coach. You are also given an option to display your category and your contact option. With this new account type, you will get the features of a creator account while your account appears like a personal account.
According to Instagram, the new account type offers more detailed analytics. However, these analytics are somewhat the same as the ones that you receive with the business account. Still, there are some differences– the overall growth insights and the details when your followers are online.
With the overall growth insights, influencers can see how many followers they have gained and lost on any day within the past week. In addition, Instagram creator account users can see which of their content is causing a decrease in their following.
You can access this feature using the standard in-app analytics section. From there, click on the hamburger icon and select insights. After then, navigate to the audience tab and see the new growth section.
Another difference that the Instagram creator account has from the business account is that the former allows you to see a more detailed breakdown your followers are most active. By knowing this data, you will be able to publish posts at the time when your followers can immediately see them. This way, you will be able to increase your engagement.
Another feature that the new account type offers is the new DM filtering feature. This feature lets influencers manage their inbox better. Through the filtering feature, they can manage the influx of fan mails as well as the collaboration requests that they receive.
With this feature, one thing that you will immediately notice is the two different folders in the inbox– the Primary and General. All the messages that you will receive will automatically land into the primary folder. But, you can move them into the general folder in order to segregate the important messages from the general ones.
In addition, you will find a new filtering icon located on the right side of the search bar. Once you click or tap on this icon, you will be able to sort your messages into Inbox, which holds all the messages, Unread, and Flagged.
Moreover, this feature also holds the requests folder. In this folder, you can access the Top Requests folder where messages are filtered based on the senders’ follower count. This filtering feature lets influencers determine which of the messages they receive came from more established and credible accounts.
On the other hand, there is also an All Requests feature where all the messages are stored in chronological order.
Switching to the new account type is pretty easy. First, navigate to your account’s settings and then select the account option. If you are influencers who are eligible to use the creator account of Instagram, the said option will show up.
It is important to note that if you are switching from private to creator account, your account will no longer be private. In addition, this new account type is still in beta testing. Meaning, it is not connected to Instagram’s API, which prevents you from using auto-publishing features and schedulers. ‘
Moreover, the creator account does not support shoppable posts. This is probably because Instagram is now testing a new shoppable function specifically made for creators.
The answer to this question entirely depends on your decision. If you wish to see the daily growth in your follower count or keep a category on your profile hidden, then you should definitely make the switch.
You can always try the new account type if you want to. But if you think that the Instagram creator account is not the right one for you, you can always switch back to the business account.
