The 88th annual Academy Awards have come and gone, and the winners were able to bring their trophies home. Mad Max won the most, with a grand total of six Oscars won in relation to the film. The Revenant came in second with just half the amount of awards, but those include two of the more prestigious ones.
With any major event like this, there are always going to be highlighted moments. So without further ado, let’s take a look at the top 5 Instagrammable moments from this year’s Academy Awards ceremony.
One of the biggest stories surrounding this year’s Oscars event was whether or not Leonardo DiCaprio would finally win the award for Best Actor. Leo has definitely had some Oscar-worthy performances in the past, and the general consensus is that he’s been snubbed on numerous occasions. Well, that all changed last night, as Leo finally won the award for Best Actor for his role in The Revenant.
The Revenant was a fantastic movie, and Leonardo DiCaprio did a great job in his role – especially given the harsh conditions he was forced to work in. Most would agree that it wasn’t even the best performance of his career, but perhaps history had something to do with this award win. Regardless, he’s your winner, and this moment is blowing up all over Instagram. Look, even he’s snapping a photo of it:

The award for Best Picture didn’t go to The Revenant despite that film winning Best Actor and Best Director. It didn’t go to Mad Max either, the film that got a total of six Academy Awards. Instead, the award went to the film Spotlight, which was based on a true story about the Boston Globe’s uncovering of a Catholic Church child molestation scandal.
Quite a few pics are making their way around the internet from this moment, and one of the most popular is this fun one of the recipients laying on the floor.
As host of the 2016 Oscars, Chris Rock decided it would be a prime opportunity to make some sales of his daughter’s girl scout cookies. After all, you’ve got a sea of millionaire actors, actresses, directors, and other celebrities right in front of you – why not make a bit of profit? Several girl scouts in full uniform and armed with cookies made their way through the audience and hooked up stars like Christian Bale and Matt Damon with some treats. While this was going on, Chris Rock was doing his best to help the sales by calling out individuals by name. At one point he shouted, “Leo! You made $30 million. Come on. Come on!” It was definitely one of the more comical moments of the evening, and made for a few great Instagram photos. It’s quite obvious that Christian Bale was pleased with the intermission:

The award for Best Actress went to Brie Larson this year for her role in the film Room. She beat out some tough competition including Jennifer Lawrence, Cate Blanchett, Charlotte Rampling, and Saoirse Ronan. This was just her first Oscar win, but that isn’t too surprising considering she is only 26 years old.
Brie Larson has been a rising star for a while now, but an Oscar win should definitely skyrocket her career and success.
One of the most fun things to look at from the event on Instagram is the theatre itself. There are tons of pictures and videos showing off the amazing structure and design of the Dolby Theatre, as well as all the decorating done for the event. It is highly unlikely you’ll ever get to see the Oscars live in person, so this is about as close as you can get to seeing what the audience got to see.

Now that the Oscars are all over yet again, we can start looking forward to what the 89th Academy Awards have in store. Perhaps that has already started with some of the films released this year, but only time will tell. For now, we can just re-live the best moments from this year’s event on Instagram!
